We talked about friends, politics, and DIDO'S PIZZA. Left in 1960 after my wedding day. Believe that Bayonne in the 1940’s through the 1960’s was the hidden jewel of Hudson County. The diversity of small grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, diners, fish markets, 5 & 10’s, apparel stores, and florists was top notch. Also many churches and synagogues were open for people to profess their faith. Should have never left except my job was in Clifton NJ and driving there was a problem especially during the Winters.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14153149.post-54228164646239008812020-01-30T22:42:36.730-05:002020-01-30T22:42:36.730-05:00I grew up in Bayonne and I so love that town and e...I grew up in Bayonne and I so love that town and everything about it. My dad was a chef at Dido's where everything, especially the pizza was super delicious. I attended St. Joseph's School until I transferred to Phillip G. Vroom (P.S. #2) then Bayonne High. We went to Uncle Miltie's, or as we called it First St. and summers were spent at the 16th St. Pool and the winters sledding at Hudson Park. I miss Judicki's and just the thought of Christmas at the stores on Broadway makes me feel special. My first summer job was at the Miltary Ocean Terminal where I was blessed to be a Keypunch Operator when computers were humongous! I miss eggs and pepper sandwiches, Taylor Pork Roll ( I finally found it at Publix) Hard Rolls and more.
LindaAnn1129https://www.blogger.com/profile/12243199400581862259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14153149.post-42887069344760441522018-10-20T23:05:16.632-04:002018-10-20T23:05:16.632-04:00I have great memories of growing up in Bayonne too...I have great memories of growing up in Bayonne too. I graduated from Holy Family in 76. My Uncle Dido's pizza was great. So was my Uncle Ansy's pizza at Chris' Corner. I bet that no one will ever have the same ones of Collins Park. I also have a painting of 1st Street ( Uncle Milties ) in my man cave. This was a special time and place and I miss it.

KennyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14153149.post-70535025257985538352008-11-16T17:57:00.000-05:002008-11-16T17:57:00.000-05:00I graduated from Dickenson HS in NJ. I have vague memories of uncle milties since I was just a toddler, but I do remember bayonne park. My dad would tow our sled behind his car when it snowed at the park. what fun!!! until a police car told us to stop. I think uncle milties was burned down or torn down? turned into a small craft dock right?Frank Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10238938891015332973noreply@blogger.com
